Explore and optimize wind generator output using custom electric wind turbines

Hold on to your notebooks! Wind Works kits are designed to give students hands-on activities to learn about the power potential of wind. Students can take measurements of wind speed with handheld anemometers and measure the voltage output on specially designed wind turbines. Students then graph the resulting data to explore the relationship between wind speed and power, and evaluate wind power as an energy alternative here in Vermont. The standard kit comes with three stations, but we can provide extra stations for classes larger than 15 students.

  • Kit includes: Wind generators, visual volt meters, digital multimeters, anemometers, 3-speed fans, small DC motors, lightbulbs, LEDs, static electricity kit, convection kit, battery and bulb kits, handcrank generators, dynamo LED flashlight, shake flashlight, radio, and more. • Kit size: 4 small plastic totes, 3 box fans (designed for 9-12 students; request additional stations for larger groups)
