Professional Development Opportunities

VEEP support helps teachers build their science teaching skills while bringing energy and climate science into their classroom. PD Workshops

NGSS Toolkit Training: Experience how the NGSS high-leverage instructional practices benefit learners as you engage with anchoring phenomena, VEEP/NHEEP equipment and resources, and teaching routines that support student sense-making. 7-8 PD hours Learn more here.

Energy Action Heroes: This 5-part virtual series of 100-minute sessions is meant to be an accessible learning experience for those educators hoping to suit up and prepare to take action on energy or climate issues with their students. Together we explore the question, "How will we, as educators and learners, reduce greenhouse gas emissions through sustainable and just solutions in our schools and local communities?". Learn more here.

In-Service Trainings & Custom PD: VEEP/NHEEP can tailor our work to meet your professional learning needs. We can come for a teacher professional learning day at your school or district, provide training for a whole department or select groups of teachers, or work with pre-service teachers, student teachers or other educators looking to learn more about climate and energy, student-driven learning, NGSS and PBL.4-8 PD hours. Learn more here.

Energy Action Project Institute

Energy Action Project Institute flexibly supports teachers and student/teacher teams who want to take action to make a difference in the impacts of the energy we use.  Energy Project Advisors are available to support teams through every step of their project, while teachers' options include PD support from unit design through to project execution. Summer Institute

Jumping from Joy to Action: Empowering energy and climate changemakers through play, hope, and wonder

In this week-long program, teachers will use play, wonder, and hope as catalysts for inspiring students to make change, and to find joy in taking action.  We will model empowering, interdisciplinary, student-driven instructional practices to connect students to energy and climate topics and to help them find meaningful and authentic ways to be part of evidence-based solutions in their communities. 34-40 PD hours, graduate credit available.
