As a part of YCLA, the Hopkinton High School team applied for a small grant from VEEP/NHEEP and a grant from HPSF to order composters. After setting up the composters outside, students advertised around the school and started collecting compost. After five weeks – the system has diverted at least 150 gallons of organic waste from landfills.
Rutland City Schools, Allen Street Campus received a small grant through VEEP/NHEEP. With this grant, they purchased a LED grow table and other energy efficient supplies for growing plants indoors during cold months, reducing waste and energy usage while addressing food insecurity and teaching students about local food systems.
